What MP server thing? fldirectip.hta?

Try the other freelancer icon, or reroute the shortcut to freelancer.exe in the same directory. (It's now routed to flserver.exe) Could also be that you did not allow FL to do a full install. You must have a full install to play as a client.

I did do a full install, freelancer was working for a long time. The icon in the freelancer forum also opens FLserver...all of them do.

I deleted my Freelancer shortcut by mistake and when I open freelancer directly, it opens Flserver.

click on start -> programs -> microsoft games -> freelancer

now right click on freelancer (keep holding the right mouse button down) and drag the shortcut to your desktop...

abra-cadabra, there it is.....

if that doesnt work, right click on the shortcut, and make sure it has the following under the "target" section..(assuming you performed a default installation)

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Freelancer\EXE\freelancer.exe"

The Shortcuts were deleted by accident, so whenever I do just that, It goes to the FLserver.

Create a new shortcut on your desktop

Right click, new, shortcut

browse to the game location (see my previous post) and select freelancer.exe

That should do it. (unless you have accidentally deleted freelancer.exe and not just the shortcut)
