Messed Up Screen On Exit - SOLUTION!!

I am fed up of constantly seeing new threads about the EXACT same problem. I would appreciate it if an Admin 'pinned' this thread. So if someone has this problem, instead of all of them starting their own thread, they can simply refer to this one.

Now onto the matter at hand. Based on observations I've made, I have 2 different solutions for the problem.

Solution 1: When I alt-tab, it does the same thing as when it exits (messed up screen)...but when I alt-tab out again or exit, it doesn't happen. So my first solution is that you alt-tab out and back in before you exit. I don't know how it'll work on anyone elses computer, but it usually works for me.

Solution 2: Another observation I've made is that it NEVER happens when the resolution or the color depth is different from the desktop settings. Therefore my second solution is that you simply make the in-game settings different from the desktop settings. e.g. most of you will be using 32bit color for the game, so just change the desktop color depth to 16bit. Afterall, I don't think anything on the desktop actually needs 32bit color. Well, nothing that I know of.

That's it. It might not sort the problem for everyone, but I hope it helps a few people.

There is no need to pin it. Why? Because no one will listen to it anyways. They'll just keep posting their problems and (rightfully) moan about the problems that Freelancer is having on their machines and not even look to see if the problem has been solved first. your fix is the best I have heard yet but a better one would have been for DA to release a patch about 2 weeks ago fixing the widest fatal errors.

Oh yeah, all the threads are blue, regardless of what it is. I never thought of it before but after what you said, perhaps if the 'sticky' threads were red, it would kinda help. With that in mind, that's why I wrote "SOLUTION!!" the way I did...because it sticks out a little more.

Well, back to what the thread is about. It's not that it annoys me, it's just that anyone who encounters that problem has to write their own message and wait for a reply. So a sticky thread with the solution will save them a little time...well the ones who pay attention and actually notice it, that is.

Excellent! I wish I saw this earlier. PLEASE PIN THIS!
Is this only a problem with the 4200? That's I all I've had it with and heard about it with. My solution was to memorize mouse and key clicks to swtich resolutions on the desktop after I alt-tab out, but I like your solution better.
