Starting problem

I've played Freelancer for quite a while now but all of a sudden i've got a problem: I can't load the game through after the intro's, then it goes to the "Freelancer logo" loading. And when the menu should pop up, it doesn't. It just goed back to Windows and show's an error. Anyway, I uploaded a screenshot from the error:

I can use some help, it always worked well and even reinstalling won't work

I have the same problem, it worked fine for awhile, and now all of a sudden it just crashs after the intro movies. i dont get an error though.

I have this too, but I know what causes it, just not how to fix it.

I bought this game 2 weeks back, finished it, installed the rebalancing mod betas but today i uninstalled the latest beta while on mission 5 of a new game because i wanted to try the train.

That was a bad idea, after seeing how much the train sucks I wanted the rebalancing mod back and since then it is nothing but back to windows after the intros.

People say on this board that being dropped to windows is fixed by updating direct X, i'm gonna try that now since reïnstalling 3 times helps zip, keeps dropping me back to desktop.

LOL, I just discovered that I have been playing this game for 2 weeks running DirectX 8.1 :-P
Not sure why it picks today to stop working, especially since earlier today it worked cause i went all the way from Omicron Gamma back to manhattan to buy the train i mentioned earlier.

It appears this happens because freelancer detects a auto-save with a modded ship which is not a pilotable ship in the original game, for me the autosave had me flying a train, once i replaced that with my save of a modded titan the game worked again, it loaded the modded titan with default freelancer settings.

Unfortunately, that's not the only way this error can happen. I haven't used any mods at all, and I've hit the identical error listed by the 1st poster. So undoing a mod won't help if you've never mod'ed.
