Help! Can''t connect to MP games!

Whenever I try to connect to a MP game, it comes up with a message, "the requested operation is taking longer than expected, please wait" then after about 30 secs comes up with "your account number and password are not valid on this server" I've looked everywhere but cant find anything. HELP! X0

Please, stop with the all caps in the subject. Thx.

I have the exact same problem, people have teased me about haveing a bootleg copy, but I assure you that I dont. Someone said that it's beause I have a firewall, but why would it be any different than all the other games I play? I'm not trying to start a sever, I know thats impossible. I cant undersand why I can't just join a game...

Because not all games use Direct x 9 netcode. Did you even bother to try disabling your firewall? Do you have a router? Are the Direct Play ports forwarded?

stuffmaster: Does not matter weather your copy is bootlegged or not, it should connect.

What kind of connection do you have? Are you behind a router? This information will help us help you.

This game is fast becoming another BC3K. One of DA's employees wouldn't happen to be Derik Smart now, would it?

Now I see, Route ports 2302 to 2400 to the server machine. That should help.

I too have the same problem
I sit on a 10Mbit connection and can't connect to any server
I dont have a firewall or router or... or...
The worst is that I cant even connect to my own server, because I get the ...take longer than expected... message...

Finally I can connect
after I tried almost everything I could think of I installed the DirectX9.0 that was supplied with the game and then everything worked fine...
The thing was that I had directX9.0 installed beforehand and it did not work then... so I don't know why it suddenly worked when I installed the supplied version...
but what can one expect of a Micro§oft product...
