Freelancer Install problem

Anyone know if there is any issues relating to installing Freelancer onto a packardbell machine? , This is really weird . Put the CD into the machine windows XP tries to autorun it and can't , try to launch manually and the game won't install no error messages or frezzing .. it sits there like i have'nt even double clicked the file.

I have iused the cd on another machine under win 2k and it installs fine , I have install other cd's on the Packardbell machine and they install fine.

Machine Specs : Celeron 1100 , geforce 3 ti200, oem LG CDRW (mod:8120), onboard sound, 512mb ram , windows Xp home.

the LG 8160 cdrw in the other machine worked fine

I have exactly the same problem except I have a LG DVD combo drive. Freelancer doesn't even autoplay on this drive. I aslo have a Sony CD burner that will autoplay the game. However the install just locks up so I can't install/uninstall the game. I have disconnected the LG DVD and tried it that way but no joy. I also have a GeForce4 Ti4200 and the latest Nvidia drivers, DirectX 9.0a and updated sound drivers. No luck.

I have the LG 12X8X32X CD-RW drive and it works just fine. Installs and uninstalls with no problem.

my bad it's not a cd problem after pulling my hair out (now i am bald) i decided to make an blindwrite ISO and install it from that and still no cigar.. guessing it must be somewhere else ..

on a side note the file running that does'nt seem to do anything is emu1.exe runs directly after setup .. perhaps a sound thing ?

Just posted a thread with the exact same problem with totally different specs with the exception that I also run XP. Someone please help this is very frustrating!

Now this is just plane Wierd ..

On my Origanal Machine FL installed fine and run Beatuifuly .. Now after my Upgrade ( MB / HDD / RAM / VC /CPU Still original CD rom ) The game now refuses to install. No error message, no crash .. Flsetup program runs then stops running ...

anyone have any ideas on whats going on yet.

yeah, my mom's PC does the same thing with ANY CD, I think its the thingy that reads the CD. Im not realy sure. Is it a laptop?. If its a desktop then try switching out the CD drive.
