Blank Screen, nothing working...
Okay, if anyone can solve this, you are a genius - and I mean that.
Just got my copy of FL.
Installed....previously, I had updated to the new DEtonator drivers as well as DX9. Wondered why I was merely getting a blank screen when I went to load FL.
Specs Athlon XP 21000
512 MEg Ram
GeForce 2 MX64
Gigabyte MB/Via Shipset, with Avance 97 onboard sound.
Went "Okay", this happens. Began applying all of the techniques I have learnt in seven years of being a 3D game/software support technician.
Firstly, I rolled back my system to about two weeks ago, when I got it up and running again. Installed, was DirectX 8.1 and a very old detonator version, 4072. Same thing happened, blank screen. Then updated to 4109. Blank screen. Then updated to the newest version (sorty, the number eludes me, for now I will call it 43). Blank screen.
Rolled back again. Installed DX9. Repeated above steps, going and incrementing the drivers through the three, 4072,4109 and 43. Blank Screen.
Began to get frustrated. Went to Via website. Decided it wouldnt hurt to update my Via 4in1 divers (was only one version out of date anyways). Tried that. No go. Then went and updated my sound drivers for the Avance 97 sound chipset on my MB, it was a bit out of date, hadnt noticed that before. Updated that, thinking that might have been it...no go.
As you can see, I have gone through almost all of the options available to me - and, I am actually a supprt tech for a major 3D firm, so have a pretty good udnerstanding as to these issues.....but this one? No matter what I have tried, its not going. Have tried for two days now constantly changing drivers, rolling back, updating..and still, when I got o load Freelancer, it just gives me a blank screen...
So as I said, if anyone can solve this, you are a genius. I want to play my game =/
