Game too dark....Please help.

Hi everyone.

I`ve just downloaded the trail version and am quite interested in buying the game when released in the UK.

But sadly am having some problems which are persuading me otherwise.

My trouble is this.....the game is just too dark!!
I`ve put the gamma slider to full in the game options but can hardly see anything.Apart from this everything seems to run well.

What i was wondering......is there anyway i can use my desktop settings in game? ...by altering game files or using the console.
Surely there must be something i can do to brighten things up?.

Am i likely to encounter the same problems with the final release?

Ill be most thankful for any help or suggestions.

No console in Freelancer. Very sad oversite by D.A. as every game running an accelerated game engine needs one.

Could also use the system specs on your machine. Otherwise the only (and best) solution you'll get is to turn up the brightness on your monitor.
If you tell us what you got, you will get a much better answer, or at least ones that can be tried.

Cheers Nog.

Athlon 1ghz
320mb sdr
GeForce 3 ti200 (dets 45.35)
Creative Audio PCI 128 (Onboard)

I already have my monitor set to full brightness.

I had this hassle ages ago with Jedi Knight 2....everything was too dark until some dude told me how to edit one of the game files,so that it(the game) would ignore the in-game gamma slider and use my desktop colour settings instead.

Its a damn shame there's no console!!!....it almost beggars belief.

Happen to have something called Adobe Gamma Manager? or something along those lines on your computer?

Good call there.

1: The Geforce control panel will let you everride the gamma and antialias settings in Freelancer.

2: You may want to try Det 41.09. They seem to work much better in Freelancer.

41.09 has been very slow for me in other games compared to previous and newer drivers, but I'd never tried them for FL. How do you mean they're "better"? Faster, better image quality?

41.09 also ran slower for me on games. 40.72 run about 10-20 FPS better for me.

Tasiin: People are having problems with Det version 43.45 that they were not with Det 41.09. 43.45 (or whatever the exact number is) may actually be a better performer speed wise, but it appears that the version is having rather severe stability problems.

Indeed, if it's version 40.72 that is working best in Freelancer, by all means, use it.

Longshanks: You may want to try the Detonator versions listed here as well as overriding your gamma.

40.72
41.09

43.45 seems to be unstable in Freelancer.
