Those with SB Live and Audigy cards read:
Many of you with Live and Audigy card whao have had issues in Freelancer already know about the Midi problem I discussed eariler.
The Solution was to turn off the Midi in these cards.
However, Doing this in an Audigy means that the card does not Work.
My last 2 days of research found that there is no way to Turn off the Audigy Midi port without disableing the card. For some rather bizzare reason Creative made sure that the Midi in Audigy sound cards would always be on and fully active (Thereby eating up PCI bandwidth) so long as the card was powered.
Howerever, there is still hope. In my research I came across a team of people who have for years been making alternate drivers for the Live and Audigy cards that have shown at least some mild success in Improving the Live and Audigy's performance when the PCI bus is stressed.
These people call themselves the The kX Project.
If you wish to try them out, they provide alternate Live/Audigy drivers that may just help out your performance in Freelancer.
The Caveat is that as far as Freelancer is concerned, these drivers are unproven.
Use them if you have to, but install them with care.
