does anybody know why my ati 8500 does not run well with freelancer.
i have the latest drivers and directx versions

What is your problem?

Mine is a short delay ... a hickup ... with an ATI Radeon 9600TX ...

Unfortunately, it's ATI. Read Freelancers Readme and you'll see that ATI cards ain't doing so hot in Freelancer. ATI is working on it.

Have you tried the Catalyst 3.2 drivers? They were released recently and fixed the majority of graphical/performance related problems with Freelancer on ATI cards.

Blue Harvest 24/7 Dedicated Server... minus the few minutes when the memory leak takes us down.

I installed DirectX9a and followed the suggestion to set the hardware acceleration a notch to the left from maximum.

That did the trick, my ATI9600TX (overclocked ATI9500Pro) with 128 Mb is doing great in the game. Even better then the nVidea Ti4200 / 64 Mb I have in my other PC.
