After intro video nothing happens.

After playing the intro videos the game comes to the static Freelancer screen and then loads the main menu. The problem is that everytime i start Freelancer up after switching on my computer, at the point where the Freelancer screen is displayed the hard drive goes nuts and my hard drive light stays on until i press the windows button and close the application. Then when i start it up the second time its fine. Does anyone have this problem or know how to fix it because it is extremely frustrating.

I don't know what could help you. I mean I can't see how that is really fustrating.. it takes like two seconds to close it then open it back up.

When i gets to the screen which says "freelancer", the hard drive starts working in over time but nothing happens, when i try to quit out it takes absolutely ages for it bring anything up because it is using 100% of the computers resources. It now does it every time i start it up, so i can't even play it anymore.

Actually i seem to have fixed it (hopefully) it occured to me that it could be the stuff in my My Documents folder which is on another partition, so i Defragged it and it seems to have fixed the problem.
