VERY strange jumpgate problem

The place to ask for technical help with running the demo or the full game...

VERY strange jumpgate problem

about 30-40% of the times i go trough a jumpgate my pc just suddenly reboots when i m about half trough (the white flashing screen)

i have totaly no prob with other things in the game (not even the sound prob) and all my other games work perfect as well

my specs: PIV2.4, 512 DDR, Geforce 4 Ti 4200

dont believe the prob has something to do with my hardware

and yes i have DirectX9 and everything needed to play the game decently

another strange thing
when i start the game i get a warningbox first that the game cannot detect my Geforce altough i have it installed correct with all the needed drivers

help would be appreciated since it sux that i have to reboot 2-3 times within an hour if i start doing some traderuns between different systems

ok, i found the exact moment of the problem

when u enter a jumpgate u first enter the 'first part' where u fly fast
then u have the white flashy screen
then the 'second part' where u still fly fast
and then there is a moment that the jumpgate stops and u get a visual on the system u just entered

at the point i should get a visual on the system my pc reboots

no crash, no lockup, just a total automatic reboot

Your systems reboots because of a system error or BSOD (Blue Screen of Screen). Newer WIndowses (lol) auto-reboot at such errors. You can change that somewhere in the My Computer > Properties, i don''t know the exact location. Just uncheck the box that say automatically reboot at system error. Now you get, I think, the blue screen which states the error code etc etc.

I get a crash at the exact same time. Also have a P4 w/ GF4 4200. Nvidia 41.0.9 drivers.

Do you have any type of Anti-Aliasing on?? If so try turning that off.

what the hell is Anti-Aliasing?

Right click you desktop and hit properties. Goto Settings>>>Advanced>>>GeForce 4 Ti4200 tab>>>click 3D Antialiasing Settings

Mine is set to Allow applications blah blah blah and my FL works fine. Also click Direct3D Setting and look at Anisotropic settings and mine is set to 0. Check those two things.

Thanks, Dark, but that didn't do it for me.

Also... what drivers are you using? My layout doesn't seem quite like yours. (you have just been speaking from memory.)

Here's mine.

Disabling the 3D sound under the audio options in Freelancer seems to have fixed the crashes.

Well hey I tried right. Try disabling 3D Sound like him. ^^

Thanks, Dark.

It was you who gave me the idea to start disabling things.
