Microsoft "MK1 Sidewinder Precision Pro" joystck

I have Windows 2000 Pro installed here. I have plugged my "Microsoft MK1 Sidewinder Precision Pro" joystick into one of my USB slots. Windows 2000 Pro automaticly installs the needed software for it itself. But the dam thing does'nt work in one game I have only tried so far. (I have no other games installed yet that uses the joystick apart from just this game). I have looked at the installation disk that came with the Joystick. But it's only for use with Windows 98/95 operationg sytems. I do have the option to use either the USB or Serial option with the joystick. Because there is an attachment that you can remove, so it can be used the Serial connection way instead via my Sound Card (Which I have not tried yet). But what gives here with Windows 2000 Pro and this joystick using the USB connection. Because the same Joystick and game worked no problem running under Windows XP Pro using the USB option.

The game in question is called: "X-Tension" installed from the XGOLD disk. With all the Update Patches installed from Egosofts website.
