This game has MULTIPLAYER?!?

Want help in running a persistent server? Want to setup a gaming session? Look no further!

This game has MULTIPLAYER?!?

I had no clue. There's a server screen that says "connecting to global server" and it stays like that until my computer is effectiviely frozen in a block of ice. Why would DA make multiplayer like that? Why not have actual multiplayer? I reinstalled DirectX 9 twice to no effect and even reinstalled Freelancer. I'm using a Microsoft brand router and Windows XP.

I too have this problem. I have Windows XP and a cable with a firewall.

Disable firewall?!? Are you braindead?!? That's an open invitation for hackers (not Lane Hackers)!!!

if your having problems.. call microsoft's help line they will surely help you out.. the #'s are written on the back of that little thin instruction booklet.

haha...I love paranoid people. I have never run a firewall, never gotten a virus. Even if I did I got nothing on here important. If you close your firewall for just a few hours to play a game do you really think that they will all of a sudden jump right into your comp. LOL

you don't need to disable your firewall, just ports 2300-2307

If you have a Router, that acts like a Firewall. Having an internal firewall and a router is redundant.

Post Sun Mar 16, 2003 4:47 am

um... i have a router and this works just fine =)

i did an experiment with this problem where i tried bypassing my router and plugged directly into my ethernet card and still the same result..i couldn't launch a server and i couldn't get connected to global server. and i only have a firewall on my router..i tend to believe that it wasn't my firewall but something within Win Xp.
