Transferring old characters

Alright, I have a new computer that I finally got up and running, and when I loaded up freelancer into the new computer, and went to my usual server, my character wasn't there.

Stupid me...but why are characters stored on the client rather than the server? Would make more sense to put it with the server, although someone can easily delete your account after many hours you put into it, but hey, that's what that disclamer before entering the server list is for.

But anyway , what files do I need to transfer from the old computer to the new one? Hopefully it's less than 20mb so I can just temporarily put it on a website and DL with the new comp.

They are stored on the server you played on. 1 of 2 things happened.

1. You didnt enter the same Key you used on your old setup.
2. You didnt connect to the same server.

Weird, in other threads, I saw the mention of cheating on some servers, and that some files were stored ont he computer. That's what lead me to believe that some files were indeed stored on the computer

Please, could someone help me out or was that the only solution? How do I find the product # of the version on my old comp without the CD, and how do I change this current one to it so I can retake my old account?

Is it possible to get the server host to change my old ID number to my new one so all the old stuff can be transfered to this computer?

The only way to get your old key is to use the Examine My Account ID link in your Freelancer folder (x:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Freelancer\EXE\myflaccountid.hta).

That is why they stated to print out your number after it's generated.
