Changing nams in MP.

Ok, i host one server, i and some friends want to play in MP with our SP games, i moved the saves.fl to the MP\sv3e3 directory where the name file is saved, the saves work fine everybody has his old SP stats and ships, but all of us appear as TRENT.
There is a way to change the names?
Where is located the names?
The NAME file is ful of zeroes, nothing more.
I suppose that me, as a host server, can change the names of the charachters,right?
Any help will be apreciated.

Without editing the actual file you can't change the names, and I don't think we can edit savegames.
