Another MP Problem

forgive me my noobishness but I have a slightly different MP problem that has not (to my knowledge) been addressed on this board.

I have my internet (ADSL) connected through a router and have opened (as far as I can see) all necessary ports. I also have re-installed DX9 (from the CD).

The problem is that when I click on Multiplay ---> Internet I see the game connecting to the Global server (it actually says Connected to Global Server), but I dont see any Server that I can join (even though it says Internet games available). All filters are off. Also the direct way -s doesnt work, it just brings up the regular main menu.

Anybody has an idea how to fix this ??

For clearity, this is not the same problem that is mentioned before about the game not connecting to the Global Server!

cheers!

I have the exact same problem. Got ADSL through a router too. Please help us, manual connecting is annoying...

did you try refreshing the list?

Refreshed it more then my armpits.....

manually connecting doesnt work for me either....

only thing I didnt try yet is connecting without the router...but so far I dont think FL is worth messing up my current config.....

Since it says you are connected, something is definitely odd. Most folks with problems seem to be unable to connect at all.

I assume you've installed Dx9, so that shouldn't be the issue.

I've seen some strange things happen with older versions of router firmware. It's a long shot, but you never know.

Sad to say, but chances are it's not you. I mean, sure you have some hardware or circumstances different than most people, but if you can get a ton of other online games work on your setup, this is probably Freelancer's fault.

This forum is filled with people having MP connection problems. After reading everyone's posts regarding global server downtime, reinstallation of DX9, multiple NIC and router problems.. I'm leaning toward FL being the problem, not everyone's individual setup. Until these problems with FL are addressed and patched by the developers, I think people who still have problems after taking the basic troubleshooting steps are out of luck.

So if you've done your homework and tried everything, I think in this case you truly have "tried everything", and the only thing you can do is wait for a patch to address the connection issues.

Decker, I fear you're right....and so I will patiently wait for the first patch....to all those lucky bastards online now...have fun and fear my wrath

Are you running any firewall programs on your computer?

I do...but I turned it off before launching FL
