If it's so worthless here, why not actually read the Readme file that came with the game and call Microsoft Tech Support?

Also, there is a Forum called Technical Issues, which is what you have. But if you actually bother to read things, you'll notice other people have the same problem too.

So why not call MS and then post the resolution so everyone can have it?

Hey dude I had the same problem. Somebody in this forum suggested I re-install DX9. I did and it fixed the problem.

Make sure you install DX9 from the CD , some people seem to be having problems with DX they have downloaded from MS.

Dude, it has nothing to od with this forum...
Nobody solved the problem. Neither did MS (Atleast in my case..).

Only thing u can do is call Tech Support (number at the end of readme file), and hope they'll tell you something useful.

Be sure to post what u get here so others, like me for example, can also fix the prob.

Re-Installing DX9 does not solve this issue... I have the same problem and have sent many e-mails to Microsoft about it. Still have no response from them but I would tend to think it has something to do with the Global Server being overloaded with requests and nothing to do with your system configuration. I do not run a firewall or router and have updated drivers + bios. I was able to connect to the server for the first couple of days but now I can’t at all... it sucks because I love this game and want to play.

And what makes it worse, is that players like me never have a problem and I'm behind a router and use old drivers But then again, I'm still using the best OS out there, Win98.

well i found out the problem.. for me anyways.. I had a firewall and it wasnt letting it go to the server.. so if you have a firewall i would disable it for the time being or i can tell you the port it uses and say that its ok..

I'll bet you all had the same problem. The Microsoft list server has been down at least twice this week. You can try all sorts of things but if you just wait awhile the server comes back up and it's all good again.

I have ip's for a couple of servers and if the master server goes down I add those servers by ip and make them show up on my server list. Then I can connect fine. There are several threads in these forums that tell how to force a server to show up by ip. If you use the same server all the time you should see if you can find out it's ip address and skip the middle man (Microsoft)
