Anyone have a server up and running through a NAT?
OK,
I've been trolling around different forums, and can't seem to find any info posted by people who are sucessfully running a server behind a NAT, so I figured I'd start this thread.
I've tried to set one up using the information printed in the readme.rtf and the multiplauer readme on the CD. I have my server running with ports 2300 - 2400 forwarded to it. My server shows up in the in game browser on my main computer which is also on the NAT, along with all the other Freelancer servers, but it shows up with "yes" under the "LAN" box.
Now here's what has me wondering. I can log into it and play no problem, but I'm not sure if other people can. I've had accounts created on it by other people, but no missions played, no failed logins, and the players arent on it for very long. I don;t know if the server is booting them, or if it's not very good, etc. Feedback would be appreciated.
My server is a 1.33 Ghz Athlon w/ 256 MB of RAM ( It will be 512 once I snatch some RAM back from a friend), running Windows 2000 Pro behind a Linksys BEFSR41 v.2 Router.
If you could test it or at least keep this thread alive, maybe we can gather some info to help others out.
