Commodity Randomization on MP Servers?

Just a quick question:

Are the values of commodities at various stations randomized for every MP server? Therefore one good route that works on some server won't work in another?

As far as the Elite server goes, here's a quick route for newbies:

Scrap Metal from Battleship Missouri to Norfolk Station, $2 profit each.
H Fuel from Norfolk to Missouri, ~$30 profit each.

Not bad considering the two are in friendly, well guarded space and are only 700 meters apart... of course you have to save up enough for a Freighter..

No, they're not.

AFAIK they're not randomized, though that would be a nice feature (IMO).

Would be nice if it was dynamic also, so if you traded a lot at the same ports, the profits would go down.

I am really glad they are not randomized.

There are soooooo many products already it would be a huge pain to deal with the situation if the prices were always changing.

Further, it wouldn't make sense.

Fighters carry 20-60 units and Freighters carry about 75-250 (I don't recall the exact numbers, but those are pretty close).

Have you ever scanned a heavy freighter? They are carrying about 800,000 units EACH.

So in that universe, how is your little 50 units or so going to affect the market?

That would be like some guy selling 10 shares of MSFT and expecting the price to plummet.

800,000? really? i usually never see more than 40,000-50,000 on any. Anyway, i think the prices should stay the same between games, but change a bit throughout the universe, like my post on Global Events that covers it in more detail
