SMP (dual)

Does anyone know and can confirm that the Freelancer server software is multithreaded?

That is to say utalises Dual CPUs?

i can confirm it is NOT SMP capable, in fact if you leave it alone and let it try to use both cpus people wont be able to join your server, when you launch flserver.exe and get the server setup screen, you have to set affinity to one cpu or the other, THEN launch the server, if you launch and then try to set affinity afterwords people still wont be able to join server.

Hi Enuo,

Thanks for the info, just means instead of a dual cpu i'll just get one super fast cpu, i wonder if it will have problems with hyperthreading too...?

hmmm can any one say 'opps' to the development team at Digital Anvil?

Interesting... I'm running a Dual P3 (Coppermine) on a ASUS CUV4x-DLS motherboard. I never have been requested to set the CPU affinity when starting the server. Furthermore, selecting the application in Task Manager still has both CPUs selected.

My server has been running for about 2 weeks with up 8 players. During peak loads it was utilizing both CPUs according to Task Manager and perftool.

I'm curious why the difference in experience? Could it be a difference between OSes run on the server? I'm running Win2k Advanced Server.
