why trade

everyone says the best way to earn money is too buy stuff and sell it somewhere else

i cant remember but i think i saw somwhere that u can steal cargo from other ships
and once in sp a pirate tried to make me drop my cargo or else(but i just blew him up)

so would the best way to earn money be to steal cargo from other people rite before they dock (to sell it) and sell it (you would make a few enemys but have a much higher profit margin and reduce the travel time drastically

p.s. if anyone figures out how to tractor/steal cargo could u tell me

Good post, I'd like to see a comparision of apples to apples with this topic as well. We've been pretty up front about time involved and profits seen from cargo runs. Let's hear from some of the pirates on the same elements. I might just change professions.

The one thing I would not reccomend is attacking a transport right outside a base. The base and all of the nearby police will open fire on you (so you cannot dock and sell the cargo). The single exception I've had to this was when a Gateway shipping convoy was taking fire from the Liberty Navy.

When attacking Transports / Heavy Transports, you can shoot the commodities off the transports. This yields more cargo then killing the transport outright.

What I've found to be a good tactic is to have one player in a fighter, one in a freighter. The fighter blows up the supply depots / cargo from transport. The frieghter tractors it all in and sells it at the station (since its not seen as hostile). The fighter evades the return fire and flees, meeting up with the freighter as soon as the cargo has been sold. the fighter can tractor cargo as well, transfer it to the freighter a small distance away, allowing the freighter to sell that too.

There is no way that you can threat players or NPCs like NPC pirates. Only normal chat. This is Freelancer, and the game designers intend you earn money by doing missions, not pirating or trading. What a pity.

All I would wish are some quick chat commands like in Counter-Strike.

Except... you can be a pirate. You can make money, and you can make it reasonably quickly.

Hmm, I really can't wait to play on a persistent server

It just sucks that we dutch people have to wait so long for the game to be released here, and that while we will play the same version as the US people (english)
