Multiplayer - Change server, keep ship?

Greetings

Well, the topic says it.. is there a way to change the server while keeping the ship?

I find it a bit bad to be totally depend on the mood of the Server admin you just played endless hours (No offense to server admins) on to get a perfect ship and he closes down the server, but I didn't find a way to export the Ship to another server.

Is there a way to do that?
If so, could someone tell me how..?

Thanks in advance

the only way would be to have the server admin of the old server send your save to the new server's admin.... highly unlikely :p

Damn.. that means, if I play a full 300 hours and have my perfect ship, it can be taken away just so?

Argh

Some of the ppl here are trying to work on a way to make a centralized server for all users so you can play on multiple servers.....cool stuff and good luck to them.

The player files are saved server side.

I for one hope they accomplish this cause otherwise they're going to completely ruin a really kick ass game. I speak for myself when I say I've started over like 20 times now and it gets REALLY irritating to save up enough credits for say the valkyrie or something similiar and then have the server come down and not come back up. If the game stays the way it is then there will only be a handfill (in comparison to how many servers that will be up) that people will even want to bother playing on. So the way I see it if they don't find someway to make it work a little better than it currently does then I doubt the games gonna do very good at all. I certainly will not go out and fork over 40-50$ for a game that just wastes time cause you can't ever advance and stay that way. It's like doing the first 3-4 levels in any other game over and over and over. Gets pretty stale pretty fast and I've yet to find a truely dedicated server I trust to stay up for a few months while I work my way through =P But anyways I hope they find a way to fix the problem cause the game is absolutely amazing and I love it ...will be a damn shame if they ruin it with the current mp system they have implemented.

@n0s

I understand your frustration. That's why we're also setting up a few persistent servers that have tied to this website. See here

ideally, for a central server, all the connected servers would save/load from/to that central server.

unfortunately, it isn't that easy.

while you can change where a server reads/saves to, if multiple servers read from the same place, they become ONE server in the server list. they all meld into a single entry on the server list, its the oddest thing.
additionaly, the same account can be on different servers at the same time, requiring a some way to centralize logging in.

copying character files between servers could work, but it would require a scheduled copy, or a copy from the central server when they connect and a save to the central server when they disconnect.
