Lan Server!

I am hoping to have a permanent server set up on my LAN, couple of questions for those who know.
1. Can I set up a LAN server?
2. If yes will it be *closed* like battle-net server i.e. if I restart the server will it save clients progress on the server or will all savegames be saved on clients computers.

1. Yes
2. Savegames are on the host machine.
