How many?

Not sure if as already been asked (most likely has, for that im sorry) but whats the max number of players that the fl server can handle?

That is still an unknown..many factors involved. My server (TRL) will probably hold between 10-20, but who knows the real number? Elite server will hold mnroe than mine, but target number hasn't been deterined yet.

oh ok

I've been told any where the max was 32 or 128 per server! But it really all depends on to who's server it is and how many they want to set it up for. Also their bandwidth connection to the server which to me is the most important due to that what determines how much lag you will get. The higher the bandwidth less lag and that's what you wont!

Well I did some poking with friends on mine at my ISP's gaming service, they said that they will look into it

True 128 is the max, but I'd like to see the comp speck on a system that xould realitisically hold and sustain 128 peeps at once. The processor capable of doing that may still be in developement by AMD or Intel. The CPU is the major bottleneck with servers, not the ipelines as we suspected early.

My DSL hasn't even approached 1/2 it's capabilites before Freelancer was spiking the CPU. Yea, surprised me too.

If the ELITE could run 128 ppl. does its ability to run smoothly depened on the players bandwidth or does intierly depened on the server speed.

If every1 had lets say a 1mb connection and logged into the server would it run better than if there was a mixture of speeds logged into the server?

I think the mixture of connections to the server affects overall stability. But the biggest factor is still the CPU from what we've seen. Most people who are hosting a server have broadband so that pipe work fine for multiple players. Even RAM doesn't seem to become an issue until you push 30 or so players (based on the idea people have 512 RAM).

On the game Allegeance they have managed to break the max player limit and push it to 200.

Do you think this will be possible on FL in time. Assuming there was a server and bandwidth that could cope with it.

People still play Allegiance? I thought it died. Do you have a link for that?
