Mining Not a Lucrative Career

Ok, I can't go out mining for more than 10 seconds before I get jumped by 2 to 6 enemies.

The spawns are too fast. Not everyone goes out for combat.

I'ld prefer more support for professions other than just space combat.

It really depends where you are...Also, attack some cops...the won't become hostile instantly but it might be enough to makes some of the pirates neutral too. Then they will leave you alone and you can even land on their bases.

That doesn't seem to work. Took out several cops and the faction hasn't changed much at all.

Yeah, unfortunately the number has to be rather large. Your other option is to rack up a good amount of cash and head to the junkers base in the asteriods of the texas system. hopefully there wil be a nice bribe there. Bribe either the liberty rogues, lane hackers, or outcasts....those three are allied with eachother and are the best ones to have allied with you.

May be a stupid question, but are you using the nav map to see where the patrol lanes are for the both the good guys and bad guys? I'd find a spot away from the pirate patrols and near the bounty hunter or police/navy patrols.

Ok, after some time of troubles, I managed to get my faction to a point where the Rogue, Xerions, Outcasts, and other nasties won't attack me (except for the Molly's, but they deserve it).

Mining has reach a tremendous high, however there is a major draw back.

With all the cash I have I am over rank 20 and when a baddie does show up it is usually an average of 10 to 15 level. Even after getting the Humpback and loading her up with Class 6 and 7 Guns and Turrets, my butt is kicked rather expedisiously. ; )

So be sure to put every penny you can into your ship to better reflect your rank to those of the baddies.

If you are in a Hump, get used to turret view or get your running shoes on. Engine kill slides and running are good options too.

The titan and sabre have reasonable amounts of space and they're armed to the teeth..you could try one of those...Pick one though since the corsairs and outcasts don't get along..
