Global server?

Is the global server for MP down or something? I was playing on Elite a couple hours ago then logged off to do some other things.. When I restarted FL and clicked the Multiplayer tab no servers came up. I eventually noticed the message in the corner:

"Disconnected from global server.
Internet games unavailable."

Anyone else getting this, incidacting the main server being down, or is it a problem on my end? It obviously knows my internet connection is up since the MP tab isn't greyed out. It's been at least an hour I've been getting this.

Unfortunately the server may go down from time to time...but it will be back up as soon as they can put it back up, be sure of that!

The global is down and will be for a while. Anyone want to attempt a direct connect to a server? Let me know via email and I'll send the info. I'm not exactly sure how this all works, but from what we've been told, it can be done.
