I can't see any MP servers either

I can't even get to multiplayer. The button is grey, i click it and nothing happens. Anyone know the problem?

So the game logs playing time? Or was it just a rough estimate on your behalf?

Exodus, it's not picking up your IP. You firewalled, could be that. It won't give you the multiplayer option if it can't find your connection, so that's a starting point to help you out.

I know my mp will be greyed out, the game won't want to use my fifty-sux k connection. It'd turn FL into the Star Wars Christmas Special.

I turned off my firewall and it is still greyed out. I have no idea why.

I had to have my firewall turned on before I could connect to MP. What software are you using for the firewall? Hopefully Zone Alarm. If so I have the solution.

I use norton person firewall 2003. I tried to start my own server and that succeeded, so I don't know why the game won't detect my internet connection.

Not too familiar with that particular firewall, but i'll tell you what I do know about firewalls in general.

If you can tweak the configuration within the firewall itself to make specific pieces of software "trusted internet server' rights, that is golden. If not then keep in mind Freelancer uses the standard DirectPlay ports, so you'r firewall needs to pass UDP ports 2302-2304 to the server. Here's some more thoughts...

Internet Explorer 5.0 or Newer - To play Freelancer multiplayer online, you must first install Internet Explorer version 5 or newer.

Routers - Ensure that you have the latest firmware updates from the manufacturer.

Setting up and Disabling Internet Connection Sharing - You may want to experiment with turning this function off and attempting to connect again.

I may have more info tomorrow, gotta do some research, patience. BTW, move to MP forum.....whooosh!

I'm having some problems also, but it's with actually seeing servers. I'm behind a router, so I've made a server on my LAN, which other people can join (Hi EB ) But I don't seem to see any other servers. Gotten the latest updates and everything I could think of.

another prob:

When you are connected to the internet with a modem (usb modem in my case) and i have my other pc on (it connects via NIC's to my pc) i cant play FL MP becouse my NIC is active, FL think that that is my internet connection.

If you have a simmilar prob like this, either disable the lan or yank out the cable

Yay, i fixed it (with a little help from a friend) Now i can play multiplayer all day long
