I have seen decent looking DELL ones for about £1500 GBP. Ifyou are going to get a web-hosting company in the UK to do a server for you then I would not recomend 123-reg.co.uk. I have heard the most terible reviews about them. (It probably explain why there so cheap!)

the bandwith is very low in FL (compared to other games)
but in fact the problem is the serverload and there you need a damn good PC
sure you can host FL on a small old PC but then you wont be able to get more than 5-10 players on it without lag
Not the bandwith is the major problem with lag... its the serverload and the RAM

the price of bandwidth i still say is the biggest out lay (in comparison to the hardware) for a useable fl server
the old computers i refer to are athlon 2600 xps which have the ability for many more than 5/10 players and you can get a 2nd hand pc like that for about 50 quid as for memory well even if you had to add some a couple of gig would cost washers on ebay
as for server load well many servers have minimised this too reducing random npcs it is a way to save on load and bandwidth

out of 3 years experience with hosting FL servers i can say for sure that if you want to host a good server where many ppl want to play you need a good hardware
additional to this there is the factor "mod" which causes extra serverload
the most successful mods atm have up to a few hundred additional mb to load
and the high player count doesnt help either
therefore they use high end hardware
