Unlocking all jump gates/holes in MP?

I have IFSO mk.V, but I don't want to do this character by character. Is there a simple way to get it all done in one go, or will I have to ensure that whatever mod gets installed unlocks them properly from the get-go?

I have done this... and.. you need to do it character by character. I kinda wish a programmer out there would write a program to do it... scan through all the player folders and unlock the gates. Eliminating locked gates from all the characters is NOT enough. New characters that come on will get their gates locked.. even if you have deleted locked gates from initialworlds. You basically need to make a new account.cfg file that resides in the multiplayer character folder. You can delete it... Freelancer will make a new one. Don't miss any characters.. otherwise.. ya need to shut down and go through everyone who logged in within the last couple of days before you noticed the gates were no longer functioning. You will not need a new .cfg file at least. Do NOT delete the server.cfg file. That has all the important info that identifies your server.

Thing is, I've played vanilla Freelancer Multiplayer on servers that properly unlock the jumpgates/holes without needing any changes on my end. What gives? *puzzle*

Accushot made a save games editor. Taking some time to learn what to do, youshould be able to mass edit all player files in a few minutes using this tool. It can remove locked gates, lock gates etc - you just need to know how to do it.

You should also be able to remove, replace items, ships, weapons, equipment, visited areas (what is on map) etc as well.

What about editing the mpnewplayer.fl file in the EXE folder on the server/client?
From what I have seen in it, you can edit what systems they have even visited, money, ship, voice, costume, etc.

Sigh! This question seems to come up every 6 months or so.

Basically a locked gate, whether in ANY saved game file (character file) or in the initialworld.ini file (server-side) will reinforce the locked gate in each other. It is of course reinforced through modification of the saved game file itself yet for the initialworld.ini file only the copy in memory is affected (FL INIs are never modified by the game or it's files, INI files are simply data files). There are two ways to unlock one or more gates NOT unlocked in the original FL:
- This is alluded to in several of the posts above. Edit EVERY saved game file AND the INI file at the same time! If not as I said above any "taint" of the INI or saved game file played in the game with any gate locked will reset all previously unlocked gates to locked next time the character is played.
- The second way is drastic and often seen on many servers. Wipe and restart the server anew with NO previous characters and the INI file edited. While drastic to some, it is a better option than trying to edit hundreds or thousands (in my case) of saved game files.

You can edit the initialworld.ini to show all jumpgates unlocked.
