Freelancer crashing on opening multiplayer

i've tried deactivating firewalls but it still crashes. help?

When you say crash - do you mean the game itself crashes, or does it freeze the image/game until you have to either reboot, or ctl alt del.

It still could be a problem with your firewall, i had to manually permission the change, as slide in alerts wouldn't minimise the game, and I couldn't alt-tab to change window for some reason.

I'm having the same problem, I've tried direct connecting and connecting only to the lan. When I get in the MP window, Freelancer starts using about 60% of my processer. I also found the same thing happens to FlServer. Any one have any idea what the problem is?

is anyone else running McAfee Security Center?

I Have Mcafee Security (from AOL) and FL crashes to desktop in several-several dozen minutes while logged on the MP server. Also, I cannot connect to any games, it claims I lack an appropriate account /password (applies for all servers I attempt) name when I cancel it. I ahven't deactivated my Firewall/Viruscan, however.

this happened to me, i had to turn off automatic protection from my anti-virus. Try to close it all together, then try it again.

I deactivated it, but FL's MP condition is completely unmodified.
