Securing a Server from a hacker

Hi Guys,

First post and heap of problems.
I have taken of the running of **uk server** from Blade_Chaser and I'm therefore pretty new to running a server. I have a problem with a certain individual who connects to my server and causes it to crash - it will then not reboot until I delete the player file he has placed on my server.
I can prevent him accessing the server by turning off new player creation - but that isnt going to increase player number - is it !!
This guy has been causing problems for about a week, ever since somebody came on cloaked - and told one of the chars online that he had shut down other FL servers !! - prolly a zitty 11 year old - but such is life..

What I'm looking for is an IP logger than will run on Xp with FL and any comments from the more experienced server host as to how to stop the little S**T !!

Unfort you will have to wait for a server admin to answer... try contacting Glock or Joe Boomz as well - they know their stuff about servers.

If you get his IP - I hope you go the whole hog and report him to his ISP.

only way is to block him/her/it's IP if its a static IP or if dynamic then a range of IP's. Just got to be very careful with dynamic IP blocking as you can get others in a firewall block.

Also suggested report him/she/it to its ISP, most take a dim view on this which is infact against the T&C's for most if not all ISP's

Go to the Eagle Utopia Forum and get FLAntiCheat. It is a great program for finding a users IP address.

We've secretly replaced their dilithium crystals with new Folgers crystals. Now let's watch them go to warp.

I'm getting FLAC from Eagle and look to stamp this idiot out...
by the way - he seems to be able to create a player file of 0kb which appears to be the prob.

I strongly advise you to get FLac mate, does a lot more than log the ip address, very very very useful.

And get yourself to the FLadmin forum your fellow admins will only be to happy to answer your questions behind its closed doors. Something they cant do on an open forum like this without giving the cheats their knowledge aswell.

remember, if your running a server your comp could just be overloading. keep that in mind
