Having problems staying connected in Freelancer

Whenever I join a server and fly to space, my connection dies (Server Connection lost etc.) after a couple of seconds, I used to think this was because of enabling/disabling Mouse Flight but that isn't the problem. Nvidia Firewall is disabled, Windows XP firewall is disabled, and so is my Linksys Wired Router on DMZ mode for my IP. I've got Service Pack 1 for Windows XP.

Also, I've been playing OpenSP1.1, I decided to raid some neutral transports/cargoships...with a Defender. Needless to say everybody, including the non-criminal Friendly Green factions hate me. I can't land anywhere because I get swamped by the fuzz! What can I do to make them stop hating me?

Speaking of which, is there a mod that enables you to transfer your MP character to other servers? It's a real hassle to regain all that cash and equipment...

Sounds like either your DirectX is not the latest (v9.0b or v9.0c) or your video drivers are not good (I had a similar problem until I used WHQL approved drivers).

There is a Middle Eastern saying, the enemy of my enemy is my friend. If the fuzz (haven't heard that in a while! ) is your enemy, work on taking out the fuzz' enemy and thus they will be friends. Might take a while and you might have to trash dozens of enemies but eventually it will work. Or you could just bribe someone to be happy with the fuzz.

It's up to the individual FL admins to allow players to give them FL MP saved game files. Rarely, unless they trust you, will they accept these files for their servers.

EDIT: And please don't double post across forums!

Thanks for the advice and sorry for the double post. I'll try that out...
