Lag issue

I play on a variety of servers and have very few lag probelems. The main server I play on however is diffrent. The server has no lag ever for 3/4th's of the time but 1/4 the tiem has insanely high red lag. I'm the only one who seems to get that lag ever. I have played on servers farther away in the world and they work fine. I have used proxy servers and tired getting to the server diffrent ways but nothing seems to work. Anyone have a clue?

If you are curious where the issue is try tracert when you have the red lag. This should list every relay and the time between them from you to the server. Too many hops and it won't work (I think it's >30 hops). If one or more specific hop takes a long time then there is your problem. The next issue is how to get around it which as you've mentioned should be through a proxy. If you are still having lag issues it could be a common hop near to your system that is the cause and may be seen in most, if not all, chances of hops to any server.

I knew a guy in NYC. At certain times he would get wicked lag to my server near Boston. So he did his tracert and found a specific hop through some dinky college outside NYC was slowing him up, like 100 times slower than the hops before and after. It didn't happen often but there was little he could do but put aside FL and do something else until it went away.

Other reasons: Someone Modding at the time / The server overloaded for its hardware specs i.e.

1. Running FLstats with too many accounts which adds to the Servers CPU load and FLserver load, which is bad admin maintenance they should be culling out inactive accounts.

2. ditto to No.1 for IFSO and running a complete player update

3. Running other applications not needed on the server, web server / virus scanner.
