Popular Multiplayer MODs

I just forged the last copy of freelancer at a Babages store at my mall about a month ago because I needed a new space sim. I love this game now and have completed the single player storyline.

I havent tried playing in a mutiplayer server yet and woud like to know what the most popular mod people play in multiplayer (or does everyone just like playing normal Freelancer)?

- Thanks

One way is to see what FL MP servers are out there. Bring up the FL global server list and peruse the servers and their short descriptions. Some are modded, some are not. Some don't mention they are modded so that usually means they are not modded.

As for what you play, it really depends how you play it. Some play for the pretty pictures (the golly gee factor), some play for the bigger and badder ships (the boys-and-their-toys factor), some play just to level up (the trader type), some play against more challenging NPC's and skilled players only (the masochist factor), some play just to harass other players (the bully factor) and some play to be with a like-minded group of players (the social butterfly factor). Play a few servers and check out their websites, if they have one. If you have the time maintain characters on several different servers, otherwise pick your server first before you place real time and effort into character building or you may be disappointed. Good luck!

What FL mod do you find the most fun (for multiplayer).

Personally, you would be best off actually enjoying the multiplayer aspect of Freelancer before you even think about playing mods. Don't get me wrong - mods can be fun and great, but in all honesty - they all butcher the original game horribly!!!!

Play the game fully first - as if you have only played the storyline you are missing TONS of systems/ships/trade routes - weeks of exploration etc

Yah, normal MP rocks! Working in teams is fun, as is that missions get harder than on SP. Having PvP tornaments is cool too.

I, personally, don't like mods that do not specifically enhance the game itself. That for me leaves out flying battleships, super duper weapons and Star Wars themes. Yet I respect the fact that there are plenty of players that DO like those types of mods. I'm glad there are modders that can satisfy those players. Certainly they help in keeping FL interest alive and maintaining a thriving, diverse FL community. Mods that I like enhance the actual FL MP experience. My own server's mod does that making the original FL MP more challenging with harder NPC's, stations, adding some of the SP systems, showing the capitol ships installed but never hardly seen in MP, etc.

Certainly though what Chips and BlazeMe are saying should apply. How can you like any change when you haven't even tried the original? You may be surprised.

Even though you made the MOD chips, I must disagree. The Evolutions Mod stays quite true to the Freelancers roots. It seems to expand the game rather than alter it overmuch.
