Good question, take it from a newbie

If it says that your username\password is incorrect, something might be wrong with your internet connection.

you don't have to register or pay anything (some servers require that you download their mod, so before you give up try to click on a few more)

Keep Trying!

Make sure your not trying to connect to a password protected server. The lock symbol means that it's password protected, the skull symbol means PVP (player vs Player) is active.

thxs for the info..... did check my net connection first time around - but that isn't it - since i went online before i started up the game.

i probably didn't check wether the game was password protected though - will steer clear of that in the future though...

any suggestions on which server to sign up with??? (still pleading absolute ignorance- gosh!!! im gonna be easy meat out there!!!)

Alright I'm gonna risk posting this although some "people" think I am spaming with this kind of posts.
You could also try my server if you don't want moded servers. It only has some minor server-side tweaks: NPC regenerate shields, killing nomads makes you friendly with all factions (even with nomads ), nomad patrols in all capital systems and Adv. Campion HF (Graviton lvl. 10) Shield can be found in some of the wrecks.
