Single Player Multiplayer

Is it possible to play a single player game (i.e. no story line) without being connected to the internet? I've tried a LAN server but can't get my computer to recognize that. What I do is set enable my LAN conncection even though I have nothing plugged in the ethernet port and then I set up my IP address. I then try to "Freelancer.exe -s <all this crap>" but it does not work. Anyways, does anyone know how to play the game without the story line?

I have your solution. windows 2000 and xp detect network connections. Get yourself a hub and a lane card thats if you cp doesn't have a lan card. Once connected to the Hub you will beable to find your server.
