HELP! Multiplayer problems ( no servers? )

Ive got a really annoying problem with Freelancer. I have a legal version ( I assure you, because I thought my problem came from my illegal version I had before, so I bought it legally ). But when I try to play online with Freelancer, it connects to the global server ( 'Connected to global server. Internet games available.' ), but no servers show up! I refresh millions of times, wait for ages, but nothing happens. I dont have firewalls or anything, just a router that works perfectly. And other games work online without problems! Has anyone had this problem and/or does anyone know a solution? Thanks

I've had the same problem. I've done everything everyone said to do. Updated DX9, no. Checked the ports, no. Checked my firewall, no. The only thing I've been able to actually make work is have friends send me ISP's from servers, and use FLdirectip to go straight there. Either that or use the -s command line code to create shortcuts for frequent servers.

Actually if someone was to post the ISP's from the more common servers here, this wouldn't be a problem. As it is, I am stuck on the few servers I actually have ISP's for. I think the freelancer global server idea is screwed up

Threnian: FYI, ISP means Internet Service Provider, I presume by ISP you mean IP Address (IP means Internet Protocol). If so, here is the IP Address for 3NET Server:
IP: 80.86.113.47
Port: 2302

When trying to get the server list run an audit on your router and see if it gets UDP packages from fllistserver.zone.msn.com:2300, if it does you should check your router configuration (even simple routers can do statefull firewalling) if not you shoould contact your ISP (Internet Service Provider).

Thank you for your advice. I dont think I am able to do all that stuff with my router, but getting direct IP's sounds great. Can someone please list some IP's in a sticky or something? For the servers that are most popular? Or can you tell me how to request the admins here to post a sticky? Thank you.

Oh and can you please explain a bit how that -s command works? Never heard of it...

Read readme.rtf page 3, lines 45-46 on the original CD. (Or better RTFM ).

Heh, at least yours is somewhat working, mine wont even connect to the global sever. I used to play alot online, but stopped around august, and am only starting again after re-installing it. If there is anyone who has any ideas on how to help, it would be greatly appreaciated.

Majority of issues relating to FL global server connect involve DirectX. Make sure the LAST thing installed/reinstalled and then checked to run right was DirectX v9.0b. If not that then try to determine if your ports are open. flserver uses nearly a dozen ports OUTGOING which are no problem for todays gateways (they are not JUST routers ) although the ISP (whether through a college, business, town or commercial ISP) could be blocking one or more ports. There is no INCOMING port needed for the FL global server, ONLY for the flservers and you only need ONE INCOMING port from them. There is the slight chance there is a blocking of the FL global server itself, although a ping of that address will tell you that. It has the letters MSN in the domain name and who knows how people block spam these days, hammers are used where often only nudges are needed.

There is a place where sysadmins can post all about their servers including IP addresses. Try here.
