Reqeust for input: A Trade Runners Clan

I am considering a Clan dedicated for Traders and their escorts. Basically it would be like this:

The Freelance Trade Runners would operate basic Freighters available within the Freelancer universe. Escorts would be available to either fly as independents, for hire or assigned to a particular group of Freight Drivers.

Freight runners would be assigned to a particular faction, house or Corporation, to include all the Freelancer baddies. They would be considered smugglers. Example:
John Doe signs on to play as a Free Trade Runner. He would be designated as: [FTR:John_Doe. He would then choose who his sponsor is. That would be, in this case, Ageria Technologies. With that, he would start with a Rhino, at, say, Pueblo, his particular home base. His reputation would reflect his alliance with Ageria, including good ratings with all those Allied with Ageria, and bad reps with Ageria’s enemies. The rest would be neutral.

John would then be restricted, at first, to make runs for Ageria. Once a certain Rank has been reached, he then can sign on for open runs for other Companies or organizations. These will be listed on a website, and commissioned out. Results will be expected. Bonuses would be issued for shipments arriving within a certain period of time, fines assessed when shipments are lost, hazard pay given for runs in hostile areas and so on.

Escorts would be available if requested. Escorts would be designated as [FTRE:John_Smith . Independents can fly these escorts and results for protection would be compensated for. Bonuses and fines also assessed.

The fun side is, smugglers and their raiders can also participate. Raiders would be assigned to a particular faction and will need to remain with such. No faction jumping. These would have a free rein to prey on shipping of all sorts, including Players. Smugglers would be open for prey by house police, bounty hunters or escorts within a moment for a target of opportunity.

Smuggler or Shipping booty would be rewards in themselves, plus bonuses can be issued for any particular type of cargo within a certain sector; like capturing or delivering food along the border worlds.

All of this, however, would need the assistance of the server administrator to help setup the characters at start. Sign on individuals would need their characters edited and setup, along with home bases, starting cash, and faction rep fixes.

If anyone is interested, please leave his or her input here, so I can gauge the interest level. Server operators that would be interested in hosting this concept, your input here would be welcomed as well. If a good response is forthcoming, then I’ll invest in the website and the admin of the Mission Commission service.

I am quite interested in this concept, but this could mean a lot of work if interest is high

Just at the startup. It would mean a bit of editing of characters. The "Paperwork" would be from the website. Payouts for missions completed would be direct on the server from a centralized location. Example, I would make payouts to those outstanding bills from Planet Denver, every Tuesday. I would keep track of missons completed from the website, and verifications are easy, since it's on a MP server, so mission completions and cash levels are controled server side so cheating would be low, if any.

A mod for this would be also a handy thing...but I'm not quite sure on the direction it would go, however...

You know what I suggest if you're into that idea? Join "Allied Exports" on the Excelsia RolePlaying server.

BTW, I'm not part of Allied Exports, and I have no friends there. It just seemed to be a similar idea.

I have been playing single player for quite a while and have been in the market for a multiplayer server. I would be quite interested in joining this clan.

I have been running a Merchant Guild in MP Freelancer for about 4 months now, on my third server (the other two shut down).

We currently have three "jobs" available inside Allied Exports, and here is a quick listing:

Convoy Merchant : We current have two long term, exclusive contracts to deliver Luxury Foods to the Luxury Linere Hawaii (Sigma 19) and raw materials & components (Berylium, Optronics, & Niobium) to The Ring (New Berlin). The Convoy Merchant is KEY to the success in this role. Pirates are everywhere, from the Red Hessians, Unioners and Bundschuh in Rhienland, to the Outcasts and Corsairs in the Sigmas, and the Yamato Damashii Yakuza "YDY", Liberty Rogues "/-LR-/", Fringe Raiders "Raider_", and/or United Marauders of Sirius "UMoS". They don't matter. All that matters is getting that cargo safely to the destination and reaping the benefits of doing so.

Convoy Escort Pilot : While convoys are essential to the successful fulfillment of our contracts, the Convoy Escort Pilot is both the shield and sword of the Convoy. Your duty is the protection of the freighter, at any cost, even your life. The cargo must get through, and you are there to ensure that it does. Although you are the muscle here, you are not expected to fly for free. You are entitled to 25% of the profit from each Freighter Captain you successfully escort alon the way. Bring your determination and martial spirit, this job demands it.

Mercenary : Allied Exports has a wing of Pilots without scruples, who are elite, excel at the hunt, pay attention to detail, and know the value of maintaining discretion. The Mercenary doesn't care about anything else other than completing the assignment and collecting the pay for doing so. With pirates hitting freighters, political intrigues, and blood fueds abounding, there is no shortage of work available for the dedicated Mercenary. In times of war, the Mercenary is a gun for hire, capable and willing to engage the enemy at any price. Think you have what it takes? Step up to the plate and find out.
