Both chars must be at the same location. I always use a base or a gate. Just hover there. Press F1, grab the new char, fly to the location of your other char, F1, grab other char, eject your stuff, F1 and switch to the new char, tractor. Presto.

You can also transfer money 2 millions or so at a time by yourself. Just fill your ship up with the most expensive ammo (50x sunslayer torpedos + 50x cannonball missiles + 50x ripper mines + etc.) and jettison them in space. Pick them up with your receiving character and sell them at the nearest base.

i do it also moslty with 2 chars at the same place and jettison, then F1, pick the other char and beam the stuff in and sell...

If you take it slowly there should be no problems. Once I unconsciously switched character right after pressing jettison, and before the cargo totally left the bay, I ended up losing those 50 Sunslayers. I usually wait till the shields come back up before switching and other than that unhappy incident I've never lost anything.

It's not cheating. It's transferring your stuff from one character to another...quite useful actually. If you've spent a lot of time building up a character on a server, then say you join/leave a clan...you need a new name (with/without the clan tags). You're still really the same character, there's no reason you should have to start all over again. This sets you up (especially if you're leaving a clan and so might not have anyone to hold your stuff for you).

It will look like cheatin:

A Char with no time spent on the srver, but lozt of goodiez.

2 things...

First of all.. why jettison your crap into space? Why not just park both characters 20k above a planet.. then...

Initiate Trade request.

Windows Key - Windows Key - L - S - Select other login - Alt-tab
(this sequence takes me about 1.5 seconds)

Accept Trade Request.

Now you can swap your goods and money however you like without danger.

Now secondly. This is certainly meta-gaming... but it is not cheating unless the server forbids multiple accounts such as Excelsia does. Being able to manage your guns and money between characters without bugging other players with it is absolutely invaluable. On Excelsia I am unable to do this, and I can't believe what a major hassle it is to get my guns and goods swapped onto the right ships.

It is only cheating if it gives you an advantage over other players. As even a player with a single login can manage to swap stuff by themselves, then I don't see the major advantage. True it is nicer this way, but so long as the second login is just used as a bank then there is no unfair advantage. Anyone who says otherwise needs to unclench their ass cheeks a bit before their heads explode.

I never said it waz cheatin, I said it will look like cheatin in the statz/rankingz
