Wierd thing on Browclopsia

There was a player on Browclopsia last night, that went from Frankfurt to New Tokyo in about 2 minutes (no exaggeration), the same player on Friday night made it to Sigma 13 in a Starflier without being freindly with the Unioners saw them jump him just carried on along like nothung was happening - how are people doing this? This player was about 5Ks out of the trade lane flying the same speed as me inside the trade lane ...... Modded?

If you throw enough mud ..some's gonna stick.

There is no doubt...speed modder....do u remember the name? if so then i suggest you report it to the admin of Browclopsia...

hehe, i remember my first time with starflyer in Theta, FP9. I heard only hails: Cheater! Cheater, burn him... burn! It was long ago.

No one can really tell if you cheat. well maybe the admin. Watch this guy closely or talk with him i think he`ll reveal his cheat soon enough coz most cheaters are seeking for attention.

moby's right about the starflyer. Been out to Theta myself in one.

As for speed hackers, they are far tougher to catch. A screenshot tells you nothing. FLSO shows normal thrusters and engine installed. This is one of those times server police are invaluable. Before the ARs came to my server, I would first notice the server load was high then had to watch for them in the game or in FLSO's update list (it shows player location). Like running from Cortez to NY through California (including both jump gates) in 1.5 mins. Even then that's not 100% verification so I had to get ahead of them in the game and see that the hacker first appears on my display at only 1k away. At normal cruise speed (300) players first appear 4-5k away.

I also notice if someone is leveled at high twenties or low thirties but has played less than an hour. Of course that isn't direct evidence of a cheat because they could have got the money several different ways, hence the need to go in the game and see what you can see for yourself.

Even though you can't prove a speed cheat through some evidence (like a screenshot), as X-Treme mentioned you can report him. Enough reports (maybe even one depending on the sysadmin and your respectability with him) can be enough that he will be tracked down and closely watched.

Sounds like the bunch that where on my server yesterday, had to disable creation again cause of them. One had uber thrusters, but was trying to Look legit but didnt see me trailing him IN the lane.

yea,

most of us have been to FP9 in a starflyer...each time i make a new char i usually transfer the money accross from my main char then make my way to FP9 straight from manhattan....

On the modder point, it usually comes from a feeling. I have been part of a police clan my whole time on FL MP, now i am the police chief and i have found that the best way to detect a modder is through a hunch.

The speed mod however is a weired one. I have never noticed any side effects of it, never lag and it is never detected by the patch or most anti-mod tools.

We run multipull tests on the AR Modder tester server just to see what the effects look like and the speed mod is the one we are stil trying to find a way to tackle.

The only form of defence agaisnt them is to use cruse disrupters....(that and the admins )

Dromedary - 65000 credits
Cardamine - 100000 credits
AR Tags - Priceless!

There are some things money can't buy. For everything else theres Blastercard!

He didn't die, that was one of my points. I could understand getting to Sigma 13 if he were freindly with all factions but at least 4 Unioner Hawks against a Starflier, pummeling him , not a shot back and just flying on through, something fishy here and we're not talking hitchhikers. The time of night I play there's not too many people on Brow, 6 tops so wierd behaviour and strange things are easily noticed as well as dying and respawning - Pinger what's your server?

well as to spotting speed hacks I've got the advantage of remote access to the server so can See the Server load, it avgs 120-200 when full or a good 3 or 4 way PvP going, but when a speed hack enters it jumps to 350+ usually 450-500.

But got to say being a server admin is one part utilites and five parts engadging your brain.

I've had someone begging for admin access. But this day saw a new player launched and grouped with this wannabe admin and suddenly the new player jumped to lvl 38, the wannabe admin didnt see it. Asked him if he had given him any cash, said no. A quick FLSO check and he had a nice cargo bay for a Flier, about 30 lvl 10 positron shields.

One player banned another player off the admin test list.
