The Battle with a God.

-----------Boston Freelancer Server, Cambridge System------------
Today I decided I didn't like AR's handling of the server pirates. So I declared war on AR, and hunted down two members in the Omega Systems. [RNEarendil (also admin of the server), as a true ally, came to help them.

He caught up with me in Cambridge. The battle was intense. I ran through all my shield bats and nanobots very quickly, but I held on. Earendil later told me he ran out of 'bats and nearly ran out nanos. The battle lasted a good 10 minutes or so. IT WAS THE MOST FUN I'VE EVER HAD. The battle went back and forth back and forth back and forth. At one point I almost had him...brought him down to somewhere around 5% or 10% hull health, but he repaired and came back strong. Eventually, he wore me down and I was sent back to Cadiz Base in Omega 5 in a flash. Earendil is the most challenging and the most skilled player I have fought to date. Consequently, I worship him as a God of PVP. See ya'll around.

cool, what was he flying?

Post Mon Sep 29, 2003 3:18 pm

We were both flying in Eagles, fully decked with Nomads, Tizonas, so on. I had cannonballs, and he had a type of missle, either cannonballs or lancers I'm not sure. I used up 25 cannonballs trying to hit him. They impacted uselessly on his shields, never hit his hull. NONE of his missles hit me. It boiled down to a guns only fight when both of us gave up on missles.

Nice!!
This is how the game should or could be played.

Hats off!

Hehe! If he had come back against me I don't think I could have hit the broad side of a barn! We were both pretty wiped, adrenalien pumping, etc.

For those who were curious I had an Eagle with no middle wing (left unrepaired), four Nomad cannons, a TdC and the Firestalker, all other equipment (ripper mines and CMs) I never used. I had Firestalkers because they are faster and turned them on during the fight. After about firing 15 and seeing no effect (obviously I stink with missles) I turned them off and returned to what I do best, guns only. When Hornet didn't nano his hull near the end, I thought I had him but that last quarter hull left was nearly as hard as the entire fight before that since he wouldn't give up! I never use nanos and batts but this one time I did so the fight lasted far longer than others I have fought even with guns only. I had about 12 nanos left and no batts.

Hornet meant "god" with a little g because of what it says in my signature.

UPDATE: Boston Freelancer Server; Freeport 9, Omicron Theta.

I met up with Earendil again, and challenged him to another duel. He was in his Eagle again...but I had switched to a Drake. By some miracle, I won.

Thanks for the battle, Earendil. It was a lot of fun.

Ahh, but you didn't tell them how I had duelled at least five times before that with others. Also the first time you dueled me you won but I was using only TdC, Skyblast B and a Skyblast B turret. You used lots of missles but had no significant gun hits.

After a few more duels with others I duelled him again with my full compliment which includes two blasters and two cannons. Had to do a lot of engine kill just to bring guns on him as he was slippery as a greased pig (remember, the Drake is the most manueverable fighter in an unmodded game). I shot down over half his missles (his guns were useless) but enough got through to bring me down. He admitted later he had only one missle left!

I hate missles! Guess I should have used CMs. :/

I liked if you leaved the first two post in place, it was poetic.
