Split The Forum!

Way back when I got on MP I first recommended this forum be split, see my post:

"What is this forum for?" June 11th

Edit: Bumped to today.

Now more than ever we need a Clan forum: Unmoderated, PG-13, Enter-at-yer-own-risk,
disclaimers and warnings all over the dang thing. You can't change human nature,
just give it a space to vent itself out. This forum needs to return to MULTIPLAYER issues.

Bargib, pull the plug of this disgusting mulitplayer forum (leave the rest open). I'm fed up with it.

Won't that just send all this... er....discussion...to the other forums?

Oh, and I've made 364 posts to date, not ONE a flame, AFAIK. Why should I be punished too?

We've tried to explain it so many times to the trouble makers: take your crap somewhere else, and let this be a fun place to visit. I they won't listen, they have to feel the consequenses.

(BTW, I hope this won't happen, i was just really fed up when I typed that message).

dont think ive flamed anyone( except for posting spoilers in the wrong forum)
there are geniune issues ,that tend to end in flames usually as soon as someone mentions a particular clan or two
this is sad but is there no way to set something up for these guys to flame away and leave the serious boards for real issues
(mind you it would probably need age verification due to some of the language
and as a result may exclude many of the people it would be set up for)
basically catch 22

Why could you not have a moderator solely for it. The last community I was a part of, each forum had its own personalised moderator(s). This worked perfectly well.

You could tell people of the risk involved in entering a forum, (disclaimer and all) but just leave it open to anyone and put a mod in. They could do the dirty business of removing the VERY vulgar comments and posts.

I think this might solve the problem. And say every month or fortnight, you swipe the board clear except for the important threads which the moderator deems important.

That would keep it cleaner and so on.

One thing that seems to be painfully unseen by the "flamers" on this board and all boards for that matter is that every letter every word every day adds up to bandwidth, now bandwidth is not free, someone has to pay for it,if any of you people that want a forum where you can go and type trash all day long,BY ALL MEANS set up your own darn forum,I for one certainly would not want to pay for a bunch of punk whiners crying all the time wasting my hard earned cash.if you think Lancers Reactor owes you this, then start donating cash to them,Im sure they wont mind, untill then Please shut up,
PS sorry admins for telling someone to shut up.

I think the flaming density has increased due to the lack of new players. There are so many experienced players and the only thing that keeps them coming back to the forums are the debates and flames. Flaming is part of human nature and people have fun doing it. If you were somehow able to elimnate flaming totally, the board would probably die.

I think a lot of the posting has moved onto private clan forums, so that may be another cause.

Yeah forgot about bandwidth. Its usually the OT forum that takes up the most bandwidth but with all this flaming its quickly becoming our MP forum.

I think the flaming has died down a bit, your right. People have realised that they cannot get away with anything on here now which is good.
