looking for intrest in a global newsletter

is there any point in making a global newsletter? i am not actually thinking get news from *every* server, but we could collect information from elite, calgary, browclopsia, alpha, raw, etc. there could be different sections for different servers, and a few important details for each one. this would be a VERY helpful tool for organising tournaments and advertising new servers. here are some other things we could put in it:

- clan wars
- clan recruitment
- new arrivals
- open jackpot torunaments (pay to play, everyone is welcome, winner takes all, racing or dueling)
- news from admin
- server issues (elite went down the other day and no one knew what was happening)
- *large* mod releases (the next generation mod for example) NOT the latest cloak or speed mod, or the new cool ship, just the big releases.

is it worth the effort to make a newsletter like this? please tell me, would you be interested in helping, would you be interested in receiving the letter, what reasons are there for NOT trying it (unseen complications?), and why might you not want to get the letter?

the letter would most likely be email based, but we would not send your email addresses to other people or companies, or anything else except the newsletter.

seems like a good idea
could even be achieved with a stocky on the multiplayer forum
though in a way thats what the server forum is partially for

true, the server forum is supposed to handle a lot of the stuff i mentioned...but a newsletter would be good for those who dont read the server forum often, and besides, the server forum isnt used much...

Somebody advertising my site for me.
Fantastic.
I have the recruitment bit allready and a server list with most populer servers that im working on(if any clans/Servers want to advertise,its free,just mail me a contact and few details)
I was thinking about putting a couple more sections in:
Clan wars=Alliances/wars/neutrals,who with who.
&
TCP News=News from around the servers.
I was thinking about taking on independent reporters with a TCP tag and a truse with all clans/players,then they could all go report for me and hey presto.
What you think?

excellent idea, the clan pit would be a great place to start a newsletter, since it is basically a giant database for all the clans. if you want help with it let me know and ill do what i can...

using the "TCP" tag might not be a good idea though because it makes it look like the pit is just another clan, where players get togeather and recruit more players...ive seen clans formed just so they can pk other clans, even other clans that they dont know anything about like BoS. they just say, "hey lets make a clan to kill those people, just for fun."

Didnt think of it that way,good thought...scrap the idea of a tag then.

I would report myself but i am not impartial as i belong to a clan,but i take no sides when i am doing the clan pit,everyone is equal as far as im concerned.
As far as help goes i could do with some with regards to a Clanwars page,i need lists of whos at war/allies etc.. if you fancy it?

I can't email the clan pitt yet, but I would like to have GOV added. I can not speak for Allied Exports, but they might want to be added also.

You should add browclosia to your server list.

If you add the links to the those clans sites, then I will use your site all the time. Maybe your site can be host the newsletter that AdmiralTolwyn is talking about. The clan list and newletter together can really be a good set of tools for people to get to know what is going on.

How are writers going to be selected?

Well thanks for the info i will post gov onto the clanlist asap.
Ive decided i am going to add the news section as like you say it would be a good tool alongside the clanlist.
With regards to reporter selection its not an easy one to solve as anyone can put up a front,all i am doing at the momment is taking people on face value+recomendations from trusted sources,sounding them out and using my many nicks accross the servers to keep an eye on things(thats not easy) not that its up and running yet,but im taking applications
