Starting a new Clan

I am thinking of starting a new Clan... The Old Gits. It would be for over 28 yr olds only and I am wondering what our Clan rules could be... If you have any to add to the list below, or if your interested in joining, please post here.

Rule 1: No member of the clan shall leave MP 'cause the Mum has their dinner ready.
Rule 2: All clan members must be the person who pays the phone bill.
Rule 3: All clan members must be able to shave (legs, armpits or face)
Rule 4: All clan members must make involuntary groan when bending down to pick up stuff.
Rule 5: All clan members must be able to remember 1980.
Rule 6: All clan members must fly very slowly (holding up traffic), and wear either a hat or driving gloves (string back optional)

Clan Ship (to be invented): The Zimmer (very slow LF)
Clan Weapon (to be invented): The clip round the earhole
Clan Dialogue: (when landing on planet) "I remember when this was all trees"
(after killing oponent) "that'll learn him", or "be off with yer, you scamp"

Please feel free to add, and if there is enough interest in forming the clan, I'll be back with the server & clan night details.

Goto go for a nap.

Sound like a larf, I would be up for that, just as soon as my cod liver oil makes my joins supple enough to move LOL

why starting a 'old rig clan'???

if u look around and talk to others, some r 14 years and otehrs above 30 years... i had a smaller 'clan' with some, no clan name, no clan-systems, all old chars where we using (then my name was FireFox, now it is ...uhm... DragonBreath, as u can see)

if i would make a clan, their isn't a real name like {NS} or {GT} or something, but the something like Nomad..., like NomadKiller or NomadFly or something, and not Nomadfly or Nomad Fly

count me in
my top ten other rules ?
1 only open to those those old enough to remember when the star lancer project was started(and will have passed away by the time a sequel arrives)
2 must have played games on a zx 81 (spectrum or commodore 64 will do)
3 no cursing at load times for game (remember music type cassettes)hmm maybe im too old
4 all gun used will be Kraken due to the name sounding like our joints
5 base of operations to be Malta the climate is kinder on old bones
6 kill all humpbacks on sight as its designer is taking the mick out of old gits posture
7 make constant references to elite or at least privateer for no apparent reason
8 all pking to be done by boring opponents to death withtales of the old days
9 constantly marvelling at this new fangled interweb thingy
10 most important no kos list as by the time we get close enough to see them we will have forgotten who they are anyway

You lot, (I'm trying to use "Brit-talk", 'cause I figure most of you are in the GMT zone), are really on to something! I know I qualify, 'cause I'm older than your dad's dad. The first color computer space game that I got hung up on for months,
(and I'd have to climb up into the attic and dig through a lot of boxes to remember the name of it), you started out in a sort of space station, and if you took no action for a while, a little guy in a space suit would begin tapping his foot on the floor, in impatience! You could explore space, and mine stuff, and make friends or enemies, and sometimes you had to fight. Any of this sound familiar? Anyway, a team of 5 guys created that game, and I can't help wondering if at least some of them were involed with FL!
Anyway, count me in! Even though it's 8 hours later, or 8 hours earlier, from where most of you probably are.

What are we gonna call the clan then????

I was in a rock band in 1980. Roadies, groupies, a tour bus, the whole nine yards. I can't remember anything about 1980.

Does getting chucked out of college for playing elite on a spectrum instead of going to lectures in 1984 count for membership for the old gits clan?

I'll certainly join as soon as i can get myself out of this beanbag chair.

Thanks for the replies.

DragonBreath - The object of this clan is to get a few oldies together, but I think that there is definately room for a 'retro' clan as you suggest. If you do set one up,I want to use Blake 7 as a model and everything could be made from cardboard (insert own gag here).

I'm open to suggestions re the clan name. GITS, The Old Gits, Male Menopausers, The Beer Guts, what ever.

Apologies for the typos but I put my reading glasses down somewhere, and cannot for the life of me remember where.

The Clan theme and member names should be from the Magic Roundabout. The original trippy one - not that shocking attempt at re-work that had the hippy from the Young Ones in either. Kids. Bah! Failing the Magic Roundabout, I wouldn't mind being the Soup Dragon from the Klangers. Ah, they just don't make 'em like that anymore!

Hey fellas, been looking at all this on here and like to say count me in on it..ya im a old elite just never elited with anyone before..so until a server is up and running you can find me on pixbo's lab under my posting name..One other question, is this going to have to be a modded server?..well elite byes and i need some elite hair tonic..

I'm in.

I'm not an old geezer (yet) and I'm still looking forward to my mid-life crisis (I have the car picked out and everything ) But I played elite back in the 80's on a commodore 64.

Its funny though. All of the older gamers I've met (over 30) are all brits. I expect thats because its the football off-season. They'll be all gone in August.

I was just informed by my wife that I am, in fact, an old geezer. So if you'll excuse me I'm going to buy me a new car.

A possible clan name chould be the Beige Elite

Whilst watching Countdown a couple of possible additions to the game for the more mature gamer came to me.

Change Trent clothes to something more sensible like a cardigan, beige slacks and possibly a nice pair of brown brogues.

Change Juni and the other female characters so they look more like Felicity Kendall or Meg Ryan in Top Gun.

Fake walnut dashboards to be a buyable upgrade at all planets in the Kusari systems.

Sheds at space stations for either the storage of items collected on your travels, because you never know when that slightly damaged thruster might come in handy, or just a haven of tranquility in which to spend a few peaceful minutes when those confounded Hessians just get a bit too much for you.

A dedicated forum for postings regarding the best route to take between bases. When travelling from New York to Magellan is it better to take the M23 trade lane via Los Angeles or the A297 via California Minor avoiding the one way system at Battleship Yukon and such like. Obviously it would take some time to change all the old map books we all keep in the pocket behind my seat into .pdf downloadable files but i think the effort would be worth it.

Just a few ravings of a madman who's off to take the hoover to bits just to see if he can make it work better
