Getting a faction ship and Reputation

I've been wanting to get one of the Outcast ships for a while, so I decided to go try this. I start out, in the green with the usual Liberty good guys - Police, Security, Ageira (sp), etc.

Soon I find out, that even on "neutral" terms, most factions will not sell me anything above a certain dollar amount. For example, I couldn't get any class 6 bounty hunter weapons even though I was neutral, on the friendly side ( white bar sort of greenish at the tip ) with them. I had to be really friendly, with a good green block or two.

Of course I'm being pounded by bad guys the further I get out from Liberty.. So I start running through a lot of ambushes, trying to through even with their cruise disruptors. I hit neutral stations, and start spending money to improve my reputation with the bad guys. I start getting in the green with Outcasts, Corsairs, etc. Now I'm red with the previously good guys - and so I cannot use any jump gates, trade lanes, most bases, and almost all planets. I'm stuck flying through radioactive debris fields in unknown uncharted space.

I buy myself a solid green rep with the Outcasts, and make it all the way to their planet to buy the ship I need. But now, I'm fairly broke having spent a fortune on reputation hacking to get here. Because I'm at odds with the majority of the good guys, the majority of civilized space is now off-limits to me.

Is this how most of you go about getting your powerful Corsair ships and Outcast ships? Or am I going about this the wrong way?

I need about a half-million credits to buy back a good reputation and make it back to civilized space now, hah!

Yes, basically that is how it happens. What happens afterwards is people stay and make money from Corsair and Outcast missions which are the most lucrative in the game. Of course they stay to get better weapons, shields, etc.

After they make enough money (which could be ANY amount from half a million on up) people decide whether they wish to stay or go back to Liberty space. If they go back they usually have enough money for all the bribes they need.

Course deciding to stay and be friends with the Outcasts and Corsairs has it's hazards when you get back to Liberty space. But have you ever been pounded on by dozens of Liberty NPCs and notice your shields are barely dented? I remember some saying going like this, have your friends close but your enemies closer.

I ususaly just kill certain people. For example, on my Elite account I've declared war on the bounty hunters and have blown up their depots many times and killed alot of hunters. Now everyone in sirius except for BH(obviously), mollies (odd bunch) and brunshue (odd also) are neutral or friendly. Xenos are also a favorite to slaughter as everyone except for independant fractions hate them.

i just kill anyone who disrupts my tradelanes...i hate it when they waste my time, and the BHG...simply because they are stupid rent-a-cops and are annoying as a tamagotchi.

LOL I love running into groups of 5 BHG's in HammerHeads in Omicron Theta and laugh as they try to blow up my Titan. I simply waste them after that with my awesome weapons layout. 2x Wyrm Type 2, 2x WILD FIRE, 2x Nomad Cannon. Oh yeah I love blowing them away.

Nomad cannons? You need a MOD for that or are they in the regular game world? I didn't think you could get them.

I was hoping to find a cloaking device like the Rheinlanders were using in the SP game... but never did find one.

The cannons are around. Search and you shall be rewarded
