NEO

Ok. For a while now, I've been picking up on how EVERYONE hates the clan NEO.
First, what does that stand for? --
Particularly for PKing and charging players for passage in certain areas. (I may be wrong?) Personally, I have no grudges toward PKers, but I know that some people do. I was on a particular server, and some poor guy was being dock camped for being a 'player killer.' Ok enough of player killing. What the intent of this thread is to find out why there is such hostility toward certain clans. One more thing, about the KOS thing (assuming that means kill-on-site?) people are complaining about this lots too. I think that if i was on a KOS list it would (IMHO) add a certain sort of adventure/challenge, like trying to outrun the enemy, or stand it out and hope you don't die =P. Ok I'm gonna end here and hope I didn't repeat myself too much. =D

First a lil about NEO:
NEO is a (somewhat) small clan, we have roughly 15 members. Though all of our members are pretty far above average when it comes to PvP skill, our main focus is on trust, and preventing any sort of disunity within the clan. That is to say, if someone is god at PvP, they won't get in because of that alone. Only after showing that they are capable of being trusted, getting along with all of our current members, and are able to work as a group will someone be considered.

Now on to the ugly:
NEO is a PK clan. People don't like us, and I don't blame them for it. We more often than not kill about every person we meet. We "request" small (200k-300k) tolls from people passing through certain systems while we are online. We are also hostile with about every clan on the Elite server. The reports that we dockcamp people nonestop are highly exagerated. The reports that our members cheat are nothing but lies.

Now on to the not so ugly:
Despite all the asinine things we do, we are not totally evil (Not all of us, anyway ). NEO members actively attack known cheaters, gather evidence of their activities and lobby for them to be banned. People who are on good standing with us are also protected from hostiles, and are given aid when they need it.

You can find the (work in progress) NEO site at http://neo.thenewfrontier.net/ . Feel free to visit our forums to get an idea of how we act n' stuff.

(200k-300k)

So you will willing rob a person who WANTS to buy a Sabre etc hmmm. Also I'm guessing you operate out of the fringe systems (Omicrons and Taus) you do realise that is BS and at the moment considering the Status of Elite YOU would be much better going and POLICING Liberty etc FROM cheats.

Also what if someone isn't A)Too bright or Doesn't carry cash ON them and have less than 200k? Will you just blast them again and again thereby ruining other peoples experinces THEREBY creating the image that you are ***holes.

You call 200k SMALL? Geez what do you lot smoke? 200k Is more or less 20/24ths of a top pay mission/trade route

Shall I pwn your faults some more?
Still anyways lets just move right along

Whats in a friend online but a name and facade?

Some guy claimed to be neo tried to toll me in theta:fp9
In my poor starflyer:
"hmmm sure here they are" i say. (trade requst sended)
"ok, 200k plz"
...
"200k or die" green responce
(2k transfered)
"200k not 2k" greeny by neo
"sorry my mistake" (trade requst sended)
"omg your lvl 1 what are you doing here?"
"just for fun"
"your n00b, give me 200k or die"
"from where i get you 200k? i am just lvl 1"
"I dont care. die"
(evasive tactic thru arches of fp9)

And this is only one incident of two I had with starflyer.
One thing is for sure: Z0p know his language well, good speech.

Once I was flying around in my valkery and was at level 20 when 2 level 38+ neos showed up and kept killing me as I left a station. I didnt have much money and the amount they wanted would have bankrupted me for sure... from that day on I dont trust neo..

So I guess what I'm getting is that peeps don't like being 'tolled for trying to play a game.' Ok, so 200-300K is quite a lot of cash. But, the question is, do they charge each time or only a one-time deal? If NEO peeps charge every time then yes I would say that it's a bit extreme. A couple (mebbe 2) of times is acceptable. But, on the other hand, if you have plenty of money and don't want to lose your cargo, start all over, and die, then it may be ok to pay up.

What people who toll on servers could do is toll based on level if they must toll at all. Say only toll people lvl 10+ or something, because everyone knows that it is a total pain in the butt to earn that money from the beginning again. Lvl 20-30 could be like 75-100K, then lvl 30-40 ~125K, then lvls 40+ you can full out charge 200-300, the original starting price.

Another suggestion is take a portion of their cargo, say 10-15%. That way, the person getting tolled would not hate you (as much) forever and you still get something out of it.

One more thing to prevent people utterly hating every member of tolling clans is if those tollers would ask the tollees to turn around or find a different route to that system or something along that nature.

Personally I think tolling people is wrong..but thats probably just my morals.

Also, that time that they killed me they didnt even offer toll they just killed me 10 times and when I asked why they said they were simply bored. Seems kinda pathetic to ruin someones game just because your bored...and they could have at least evened things out and not go 2 against 1 while both of them are in superior ships..

@Chiggy. I won't. :p

Post Mon Jul 14, 2003 3:05 am

Hornet, they usually only do that to people who refuse to pay or insult them.

Post Mon Jul 14, 2003 5:50 am

We charged you one million for not only flaming us on the forums, but ( what really pissed me off ) for attacking my friend who was COMPLETELY defenseless in a freighter, and who you had no right to attack at all.
