Urgent Help - How can I back up my MP chars b4 reinstalling

On your own server or another server?

For other servers:
If I remember right (I'm @ work) is in the start menu you can access your
ID number. It's a long one , so take a screen shot too as well as write it.
I guess at some point during re-install you can enter that number...

If you run your own server:
Try looking in My Documents, that's where the SP savegames are.

if you look in my documents then games /freelancer/accounts/multiplayer and sp are there created by default if you play on you own server
if not its in the hands of the room you are playing in
i have my own server room and i play there too so i know for sure
can close this if no more ??? about it EB as soon as hes reads this lol nice meeting you guys both eb and bake

Yes, but they know you by your ID number.
Lose that (like in re-install) and kiss your characters goodbye.

The easiest way i have found of backing up a Freelancer MP account, involves entering the registary, Start/run/type "regedit" go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Freelancer\1.0 highlight the install key then go to the menu File/export save it as a name you will remember. Then once you reinstall Freelancer before or even after making a new MP key, just double click this file you exported and all will be as it should be. REMEMBER TO ALWAYS BACK UP THE REGISTARY BEFORE EDITING IT IN ANY WAY.
Saving this file to a cd or floppy is an easy, sure fire way of getting and keeping your MP account correctly.

I had the same thing, never had to do anything just reinstall and everything was just like old days...

I assumed he meant OS/Total re-install, I don't know if your method would work there.
