Well I think this answers some of what you are asking.
I have server that i mod myself and play in and when players come in modded
and dont have the same game or files or flmm for that fact running in flmm they tend to mess up me and i get booted
in your game files they get booted to desktop if they run different than you
why it does that i dont know i know it has happen to me with the ship mods
I tried the 2 newest ones last nite and got booted to desktop wiith the x- experimental but i was able to buy the other ( i got booted with the voyager too)
what my problem is i get booted out of my own server
hopefully you didnt download the microsoft server patch (I had to reformat my server)
it wll cause problems I am still having problems playing in my own room
even after format also i have had to reinstall freelancer now so many times i cant count
if the people coming in your room try to mod (cheats)more than you they will probaly get booted to desktop
I dont really call them cheats i call them tools they bring a newer experience to game
Yes it will help if you compressed your files and send them email (AOL or Icq) to players then all matches
trouble with that is you have to break them down to smaller compressed zip files so they will go through
then players can just extract them to defaut freelancer and if you tell them what mods you are running and what version flmm I belive it helps
that is if you changed the original fl files i am assuming you play on your own server
these are some of my experiences
I have over 600 hrs playing
try this
lock room with password dont tell password
install your mods and whatever game files
when installing mods to flmm what i have done is to extract a copy of the same file to the original freelancers files from the internet not the mods folder
thats seems to work for the Boba_Fett's SLave ship I like but i have lots of trouble with that mod have to reinstall it a lot I have to delete all that there relating too boba ship then reinsall back to flmm and game files too for it to work also it depends on what version flmm people are using there are 4(correct me if i am wrong)
flmm1.0 flmm1.1 flmmbeta 4 flmmbeta 8 they are testing all these others i i have tried all but i went back to 1.1 the first one that worked good
