The other shields aren't worth it. They're weak vs. graviton shields, but the highest level graviton shield ( 8 ) still just doesn't have enough capacity to withstand a 'cid attack. Oh, incidentally, the only way you can get a class 8 graviton shield is by buying a Titan ( it's not for sale anywhere but it comes with that ship ).

An adv. brigadaine level 10 shield is the best to get all the weapons. I have tested graviton and positron shields, and well since there is only a level 8 graviton shield, you should go for the level 10 positron shield. Oh and you can buy the level 8 graviton shield at Planet Crete in Omicron Gamma.

You can get class 10 gravs on my server as loot drop by blasting the outcasts sabres at planet malta.

Think it gives you a few extra fractions of a second before you become torpedo fodder against another player using TDCs.

Once you're at that level - being able to avoid getting hit is far more important than being able to withstand lots of TDC hits IMHO.

Funny side effect of the mod - getting endless ex-trader n00b types who have just bought their titans heading up to planet malta to hunt the outcast sabres for their shields and getting utterly wasted by the outcasts in the process
