Advanced Combat Techniques

Hi there everybody,

I was wondering if there was anyone out there that could pass on any advanced techniques for flying and taking people down in PVP as I would like to know how to get the upper hand in these situations,

Thanks,

In PvP games, Manuverability and surprise are the most IMPORTANT points in the game. If you have an eagle and the enemy has a Titan for example, you can easily evade him and just fly around him, killling him. However, surprise is the key. If you can get in the back of someone (dont be cheap, though) and he doesnt notice you you can most likely down his shields and do half his hull health. Also, fire rockets, mines, torpedoes when your enemy least expects it or in a situation where you cannot miss

I never found any strategies in pvp, except having the right equipment and good aim, but here are nome strategies that work against npcs and someimes players too. For running away: continually turn on and off the afterbrurn, this will make sure that your target is always moving even though your going in a strait line.To evade missiles:If you have a missile on your tail, simply make a sharp 90 degree turn and then turn on afterburners, the missile will try to turn after you but miss. This is also a good strategy for getting somebody off your back.Well thats all i know, hope there any help.

well nothing can take the place of a good pilot... but heres something i did, just to give me the slight edge on manuverability. Some ppl use engine kill to turn, which i hate because its so hard to think about in the middle of a battle, and you will be goin straight for a short period of time. what i did is i bound reverse thrust to S, so that when i turn using s, it slows down real fast and sometimes goes backwards, making my turns faster than the others

once i just got my advisary really weak, to the point that no red shows then i rammed him in cruse mode! hehehe

also some fun with hornets get player really weak then finish off with a hornet

if in doubt, just spam!!!!!!!!!!

I survided in a sabre (while I thought i could still win in one) by afturburning and braking/reverse thrusting, that should throw anyone off, sometimes.
Flying in this game is kinda like flying a real easy to fly plane minus the gravity so if you see any stunts on TV think about using em... eh.
Also, KAB told me he did this once, when being pursued, you may be able to drop out of cruise and fire on your enemy before he/she has time to react.

I don't use the engines anymore, just the thruster / reverse / sliding thrusters. I wish they had thrusters to slide me directly up and down, but that is not the case. Leaving the engines disabled allows you to maintain very high velocity without dropping below 90% on your thrusters. Leaving the engines on will constantly bring you back to 80, while disabling them will keep you up at 190 - 200, even through a turn.

I have been killed twice in PvP by freelancers using torpedoes. I'm not sure how they did it, as I was moving laterally at high speed. I hope that it wasn't a cheat, because I'd like to learn the technique. I'd like to add that, aside from those two torp kills, I've been relatively untouched in PvP combat.

LEarn the rule of combined velocity- when ur travelling at 200/300 and shoot a torp, its gonna go regular speed PLUS the speed your traveling- very high pontential speed

and FL's physics model DOES simulate this!!!

One thing i found is remapping S to reverse thrust and X to slow engine helped a lot in dogfights. Lets you strafe them nicely as they fly by.
Xenos started becoming too easy to I'm taking on the cops now...
Admittedly, still only playing the demo, but upgrading soon...

I go into battle and cut engines, then i never use my throttle til the battle is over, i turn with engines cut for a sharp turn and then use afterburners to change direction.

Depends what u mean as best, the most interesting fights are in asteroid fields and more interesting would be mine fields and volatile gas clouds.
